‘BOOKFEST’ SCHOOLS PROGRAMME

The Portsoy Book Festival schools programme will continue to introduce children to authors and illustrators.

 

During the month of March authors Mike Nicholson and David Macphail will be touring local primary schools and libraries encouraging children of all ages to create stories. This project is supported by the Scottish Book Trust, Portsoy 75 Club and Portsoy Thrift Shop.

 

MIKE NICHOLSON an Edinburgh based children’s author of books for all ages for Primary school children, Writer of the Museum Mystery Squad, Catscape and the Thistle series of picture books for younger children. Mike is also a writer for BBC Schools Radio taking part in a recent project called Sonic Snackbox, a comic book resource for schools.

DAVID MACPHAIL a Perth based author who writes for children and television. David left home at eighteen to travel the world and have adventures. After working as a chicken wrangler, a ghost tour guide and a waiter on a tropical island he now has the sensible job of writing children’s books about yetis and Vikings. David is the author of the Thorfinn the Viking series of children’s books.

STORYTELLER EVENT WITH PAULINE CORDINER

On Saturday 29th February, 10AM-12(Noon), Portsoy Scout hut will be the venue for Scottish storyteller PAULINE CORDINER accompanied by her little Viking friend, Bjarni. Pauline hails from the NE of Scotland and loves telling tales based on the farming, fishing and heritage of the area. Have you seen the Vikings in Portsoy? Will they be invading in 2020? Watch out for details on the www.stbfportsoy.org website.  Pauline will be telling us some Viking stories and you will have the opportunity to make butter and write your name in runes!
